Take physic, pomp

Bagua chart of the day is….

…a statistical comparative of Lima and Bagua.

Farid Matuk shot out this short but sweet little post yesterday that took INEI official statistics for the Lima & Callao conurbation of Peru (aka ‘The Republic of Lima’) and Bagua in the North where last week’s violence left at least 50 people (and perhaps many more) dead, including indigenous locals and the police that were sent in to stop the protest.

This chart is just a selection of the stats that Matuk put on his blog, but the six here may give you a little more insight into life in a Peru ignored by everyone until they protest….then they’re ignored some more. But if they protest too much they’re shot and killed.

You flew into Peru. You did the city tour of Lima. You stayed in Cusco. You did The Inca Trail. You flew over the Nazca Lines. You drank a pisco sour and heard that band play ‘el condor pasa’. You now read about the place in the newspapers. You know Peru. Yeah, right.
