Extensive damage in Nicaragua due to Hurricane Iota

LADB has an English language round-up of Hurricane Iota news, which hit the Northeast coast of Nicaragua and Southeast Honduras just 13 days after the other big hurricane, the Cat 4 Eta. There have been 18 reported deaths in Nica, 14 in Honduras and widespread damage according to both Governments’ officials, but situation reports are only now starting to arrive as some 33 communities are still cut off from electricity and internet communication.

Also worth noting that Iota made landfall in an area of direct interest to this humble corner of cyberspace, as a lot of precious metals mining goes on in the so-called Triangulo Minero and your author made a visit there, around this time last year (no mask was required). Sending good thoughts to friends in the zone, stay safe people.
