Take physic, pomp

Pan American Silver (PAAS) speaks on Chubut and Navidad

IKN told you last night, but PAAS didn’t hang around and made sure you all know before the opening bell:

Pan American Silver Corp. (NASDAQ: PAAS) (TSX: PAAS) (“Pan American Silver”) reports that, on December 15, 2021, the legislature of the Province of Chubut in Argentina approved a legislative bill (the “Bill”) that would modify the provincial mining law to allow permitting of open pit mining in certain zones in the Departments of Gastre and Telsen, which are defined by a land use sensitivity map. The Bill requires Executive approval and official publication before it becomes law.

Continues here

PAAS didn’t tell you about the violence, protests, tear gas and rubber bullets used against demonstrators last night in Chubut. Nothing about near-riot conditions around the parliament building, the injuries or the hospitalizations, but you can’t have everything I suppose. Not their fault and nothing to do with them. Right?

I will add PAAS to my growing list of uninvestable mining outfits with outsized political risk. On the plus side with the takeover of Tahoe, PAAS has the direct line to the folk who were doing security at Tahoe silver mine in Guatemala.
