Take physic, pomp

The Friday OT: Hilary Hahn is back

To celebrate the fact the world’s best exponent of J.S. Bach on violin has finished her sabbatical year and is ready to play music again, IKN offers up the definitive Hahn YouTube clip:

Watch as she shreds what’s often called the most difficult piece ever written for violin, Heinrich Wilhelm Ernst’s “Grand Caprice on Schubert’s Der Erlkönig, Op. 26 “Le roi des aulnes”. For non-experts like myself, the comments section of the YouTube page here gives a glimpse into another universe.

    Simply astonishing

I came to be aware of her through TwoSet Violin. She’s amazing even while hula hooping.
