The first movement is massive and intense, over 20 minutes of extended and often aggressive exchange between the protagonist and the orchestra. It can leave listeners exhausted, as if they’ve just done a whole symphony and not a first movement from a concerto. Then, this drops:
Brahms listens to Mozart for oboe clarinet and violin and says, “Hold my beer”. And Hilary. Perfect.
The Friday OT is a highlight of my week. Every week.
Always interesting wonderful music.
Thank you.
Thank you, Mike.
Hilary never disappoints. I confess I first came across her through TwoSet Violin where she’s just as awesome playing while hula-hooping.
She’s a nice, pleasant, happy, down-to-earth wonder of humanity. Her Chaconne is the best.
Bad flute note around 2:10 mark.
I meant 2:03. Bad note.
