In my personal opinion, the proper time to have sold the last of a mining stock portfolio was Q1 2021. The next buying opportunity will be later in 2022.

I believe the fallout from Evergrande is going to cause the unwind of loans with copper as collateral and slow the Chinese economy.

Im expecting $3.20 copper in early 2022.

Last yr the copper miners all sounded like shale gas cos in 2014, discussing how there was no situation for copper to be weak.

Fair enough. Mis dos centavitos on the subject are that it’s already history. Comparing Evergrande to even LTCM (as seen in your trade paper op-ed of merit today) is like comparing a Porsche 911 from the 1980s to one today. Both have four wheels, have the same badge on the front, both go vroom, the similarities end there. For the last 18 months, we’ve been shown how Whatever It Takes works and keeps on working. Just add it to the list of geopolitical events that used to move markets, this slight roadbump changes nothing and will be forgotten in a week.

China will rescue Evergrande one way or another. This will not be another Lehman Bros.

That is just an opinion based on my reading.

I am not always right and people should not make decisions based on my opinion.

We may also have different time frames for holding which could mean both statements are true in different lengths.

Regardless of timing, I do agree that now is a good time to be learning lots about your favourite copper story.
