Considering that we knew NCM was late-stage on Kirkland Lake (KL) before that fell to Agnico, this move makes a plenty of sense. And once again, it’s not just holders of PVG that will be celebrating tomorrow. Anyone holding Great Bear will be applauding this deal, the consolidation of single asset precious metals companies is well and truly on. NR here.
Will this wave of consolidations mark the top of the market again, as it usually does?
Difficult to call it a wave as yet. Three or four more, then let’s talk.
We need to wait for some stupidly overpriced acquisitions (e.g. Peregrine by Stillwater) or, Helca and/or Coeur buying something.
They generally manage to time everthing (im)perfectly
Can you give us a list of what’s left to buy for Newmont and Barrick?
Must be a short list.
Great Bear? Kinross? Evolution?
ok
Who will buy Wesdome WDO?
Great assets, great jurisdiction, solid financials.
Just mentioned it myself. Fools seldom differ/great minds think alike.
[…] IKN reader Tweetie put this comment under last night’s quick post on the Newcrest/Pretium […]
Do you think there is another buyer that could outbid Newcrest for the asset?
My opinion: The Aussies are paying top dollar and there’s no room for a counter.
The market may disagree.
